Conclusion:

If you don't anticipate sending many faxes each month, PopFax is a decent option. Popfax only gives you 20 free pages for sending compared to many services we've reviewed that give you at least 150 free pages for sending.  Popfax has local numbers available in 44 states but does not offer toll-free fax numbers. Sending and receiving faxes with Popfax is fairly easy, but you must send faxes using Popfax's online interface unless you pay an additional $2.50/month for the ability to send faxes by email. Popfax only offers email support, but their support was helpful during our testing. Popfax has a 3-day free trial period.
