MaxEmail is a good value if you want a local fax number. MaxEmail offers local numbers in 30 states. MaxEmail also offers (866) and (877) toll-free numbers, but if you get a toll-free number, then you don't receive any free incoming pages. MaxEmail has average fax quality. MaxEmail doesn't have phone customer support, but their email support is very helpful. MaxEmail offers a 30-day free trial limited to 100 incoming and three 10-page outgoing faxes.
Fax Number Options
MaxEmail has local numbers available in 30 states as well as Washington D.C. When choosing your local number, you can choose by area code and city. They also offer (866) and (877) numbers for the same price as local numbers. Only certain numbers qualify for porting, and you'll have to call MaxEmail to see if your number qualifies.
Sending and Receiving Faxes
The faxes received using MaxEmail are of average quality, with decent text quality and poor picture quality.You can fax up to five documents at one time to an unlimited number of recipients. You are not able to preview a fax before you send it or schedule the delivery of your faxes. Online fax storage is free for 30 days, which is typical of the services we've reviewed. Their service is also Mac-compatible. 25 email addresses can send and receive faxes.
Pricing
The monthly fee for their Plus plan is $9.95 with an additional $10 start-up fee. With the plan, if you select a local fax number, you get 250 free incoming pages and 100 free outgoing pages. If you select a toll-free number instead, then you do not receive any free incoming pages. The local number price per page is three cents, which is similar in price to the other services we've reviewed. They offer two different prepayment options: One is $24 quarterly ($8/month), and the other is $84 annually ($7/month). Their incoming overage pages cost five cents for local numbers and 10 cents for toll free numbers, which is in line with the rates charged by other services. Their outgoing overage pages cost five cents for 30 seconds of transmission time and up to 10 cents per page for both local and toll free numbers. They offer a 30-day free trial period.
