Fax.com Review

Pros:

  • 30-day free trial period
  • Offers local fax numbers in all 50 states

Cons:

  • Low fax quality
  • Only one document can be attached/faxed at one time.
  • Only two email addresses can receive faxes.

Conclusion:

Fax.com's price and number of included pages is comparable to the other online fax services we've reviewed, but both its fax text quality and image quality are poor. Fax.com offers local fax numbers in all 50 states and (866) toll-free numbers at no additional charge. Fax.com's customer support is average, and we were transferred a few times before a representative answered our questions. Fax.com offers a 30-day free trial.

Fax Number Options

Fax.com offers local numbers in all 50 states. When choosing your local number, you are able to select by both area code and city. Fax.com allows you to obtain an (866) toll-free number at no additional charge, but they don't allow you to port your number.

Sending and Receiving Faxes

Fax.com faxes have both poor image quality and poor text quality. On Fax.com, you may attach only one document per fax, but you can fax up to five recipients. You can neither preview a fax before it is sent nor schedule delivery of a fax for a later time. Faxes left in online storage longer than 30 days will be charged five cents per fax per month which is costly since most other services don't charge you for fax storage. Fax.com is Mac-compatible. You may send faxes from an unlimited number of email addresses, but you may receive faxes on only two email addresses.

Pricing

Fax.com charges $9.99 per month to send and receive a combined 300 pages per month. Price per page comes out to three cents a page, which is comparable to the rates offered by the other online fax services we've reviewed. Overage rates of 12 cents per page are applied to any pages sent or received over the 300 page limit. This is slightly more expensive than typical overage rates of 10 cents per page. Fax.com offers a 30-day free trial period.

Customer Support

Fax.com offers both phone and email customer support. Phone support is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST. Wait times were found to be very short, but when we tested their support, we often had to be transferred to multiple representatives in order to get answers to our questions.
