Conclusion:

FaxBetter is a great value if you want a toll-free fax number and only need to send and receive faxes from one email address. Otherwise, FaxBetter’s plan doesn’t suit your needs very well. FaxBetter doesn’t offer local fax numbers. Sending and receiving faxes with FaxBetter is easy. However, if you go over your 500 free pages per month, FaxBetter will bill you for 250 additional pages at $0.06 per page. This isn’t standard as most online fax services only bill you for the specific number of pages you exceed. FaxBetter doesn’t offer phone support and has average email support. FaxBetter doesn’t offer a free trial to test their online fax service and instead offers a free account where you can receive up to 20 pages per month.

Fax Number Options

FaxBetter does not offer local numbers in any states. However, they do offer (866), (877), and (888) numbers. FaxBetter will port a number for $20.

Sending and Receiving Faxes

During testing, FaxBetter produced high quality faxes. You can fax an unlimited number of documents at once, but you can only send to one recipient at a time. They do not let you preview a fax before you send it or schedule the delivery of your faxes. They offer unlimited online fax storage, which far exceeds the 30 days most typical online fax services offer. Their service is Mac-compatible, and you can send and receive faxes from one email address.

Pricing

The monthly fee for their FaxBetter plan is $9.95 and comes with 500 combined incoming and outgoing pages. This comes out to two cents per page, which is cheaper than the pricing for most of the services we've reviewed. FaxBetter offers a prepayment discount of $95.40 per year, which comes out to $7.95 per month. This represents a savings of 20%. The incoming and outgoing overage charges are six cents a page, which is cheaper relative to the overage rates for other online fax services we reviewed. Once you have reached 501 pages in any billing period, they will bill you for 250 additional pages at six cents per page. They do not offer a free trial period.

Customer Support

FaxBetter offers email support as well as a knowledgebase to help with any questions you may have. They do not offer phone support, and their email support takes around two hours to respond. We found the overall quality of their customer support to be average.
